What commercial robotics field service means
A commercial robot can be monitored, updated, and diagnosed remotely. It cannot be unboxed, re-seated, cleaned, swapped, photographed, or packed remotely. Field service covers everything that requires a qualified person to be physically present at the site where the robot operates: a warehouse, a store, a hospital corridor, a hotel, a campus, or a production floor.
For the companies that build, lease, sell, or operate those robots, field service is a recurring operational requirement across the whole lifecycle of the installed base. It starts at deployment, continues through preventive maintenance and break/fix events, and ends with decommissioning and asset recovery.
